An experienced litigator, Stasia focuses her practice on employment and civil rights litigation defense.
She represents employers in state and federal litigation involving claims under Title VII, Chapter 4112, Section 1983, FMLA, ADEA, ADA, and state common law tort claims (wrongful discharge, promissory estoppel, discharge in violation of public policy, etc.) and in administrative proceedings before the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, the Unemployment Compensation Review Commission, and the Industrial Commission. Stasia has experience in motion practice, discovery, depositions, expert depositions, trial preparation, and jury trials in state and federal court and in appellate practice before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and state appellate courts. She also advises employers on compliance with local, state and federal employment law and on ways to avoid litigation and frequently speaks and writes on employment law issues. Before she attended law school, Stasia worked for several regional corporations in positions involving risk management and workers compensation. She brings a practical bent to the resolution of disputes. She maintains an employment law blog at lawyers.com.

LEXIS 93385 (Sept. 8, 2010) (adopting magistrate judges report and recommendation and granting defendants' motion for summary judgment on plaintiff's claims of violation of 42 U.S.C. 1983, selective enforcement, malicious prosecution, and intentional infliction of emotional distress arising from alleged improper prosecution). American Maritime Officers v. Marine Engineers Beneficial Association, District No. 1, et al., 2007 Fed.App. 0394P, 2007 U.S. App. LEXIS 22819 (6th Cir.) (addressing the post-removal-event doctrine and dismissing defendants' appeal of a district court remand order where the plaintiff's complaint set forth only state law claims). City of Perrysburg v. Toledo Edison, 171 Ohio App. 3d 174 (6th Dist. 2007) (holding that a utility had no right to reimbursement of its equipment relocation expenses where the equipment was located in private easements subject to an existing highway right-of-way). Rosemary Johnson-Kurek v. Samir Abu-Absi, et al., 423 F.3d 590, 2005 U.S. App.LEXIS 1966 (6th Cir.) (holding that a university did not violate a professor's free speech rights and, therefore, plaintiff failed to state a claim under 42 U.S.C. 1983 where the university gave directions to the professor regarding her communication with students).
